Ecommerce website design question?

I have an auto parts store and hired a friend that would use word press to do the site for $500 for $200 for design and $300 for 400 products. Then I realized that it wasn't 400 products and it was more than 4000 products. The friend asked me for a dollar per product. Which would be a lot of money. There is a company in my town that I got a quote and stated that for $1800 they will do unlimited products. Now I know it makes more sense to go for the cheaper deal. What do you think?

Your friend cheat you sorry to say this but this is true. Word press is free CMS and any body can make website. He is demanding 1$ to add one product, this is radicals. You already give him more than enough money I think he should do your work with no $$$.

How have you got the products details now?

Are they listed on an Excel spreadsheet or could they be? If so, with many of Wordpress e-commerce plugins you can upload a csv file(from Excel) to the my-sql database(where all the product details are stored) in one go. Then you might have to some fine tuning of the product details but it could save you a lot of effort & money if this was possible.

What Wordpress plugin is going to be used for your products?
