I know I keep posting but my phone won't let me add details! Plz read properly :) why did he text me?

Hi, I live in Belgium in a very small town that sees tourists over the summer.

Anyway over the summer I was in my local night club (there is only a few) and I met a French guy. We had a one night stand and I didn't think anything more of it and assumed I wouldn't see him again (though he said I would) a couple of weeks later I saw him again in the club and we got chatting, he took me back to his friends house and we had a one night stand again. I left as his friends were coming back (he shares the room with 3 of them). But I took his number and told him I would text him when I was next out. A week past and I text him but didn't hear back so assumed he'd gone back to France and didn't think much. 2 weeks later he text me from his Belgium number (at around 2am) saying he had just arrived in London I text back and told him I was actually going for a weekend to London soon (with ny friends) and we should meet for a drink. No reply. I tried to call him but the number us now out if service? So why bother texting me at all? I'm confused and it's been playing in my head since. I thought we had a chemistry and that's why he thought to text me? If it was just a one night thing why text me? 2-3 weeks after to let me know if your whereabouts? Just to clarify he was in holiday in Belgium as he has friends living there and he said he was going back to France. So when he didn't text I assumed he was in France. That's why I was shocked to get a message telling me he is in London.
