How to turn off page forward & back Mac OS 10.7?
I recently replaced my Mac and am now using OS 10.7.5. Although generally happy with it, the page forward and back arrows that appear (unwanted) in the page margins whenever I browse the internet are driving me mad! I keep finding myself on the wrong page and having to correct. I don't know if this is a feature of OS 10.7 or something that later versions of both Google Chrome and Safari have added, but it is frustrating and I can find no way to turn it off. Does anyone have any ideas?
Edit: ELfaGeek thanks, it's a desktop. Unfortunately, the local apple store does not have a genius bar (and don't even have anyone who could tell me the right firewire cable to get to try to save data from my old, dead, iMac). Even if they did, they'd speak Spanish, and my Spanish is not up to such technical issues. However, thanks to you, I do now have an idea for what to look for (and, it makes sense, the sudden, inexplicable page zooms were annoying as well, but not as bad as the forward/backward jumps). Even if I can't find the control panel to turn it off, at least I now know what to google! Thanks

Is your Mac a desktop or a laptop???
If it's a laptop, take it in to the nearest Apple Store, and let the guys at the Genius Bar have a look at it. If a Desktop, go in and talk to them anyway. They can show you how to fix it.
I use OS X Lion, and it sounds to me that you have Dynamic Zoom enabled in OS X 10.7.x and you just need to turn it off. It's affecting both your Safari and Chrome Web Browsers.
