What are the differences between Visual studio express for windows 8 and Visual studio express for desktop

    The Windows 8 version is designed specifically for the Win 8 operating system and the Metro type interface. The desktop version is for Win 7 and below.

    Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 for Windows Desktop is, as its name implies, to make applications for the desktop. Supported operating systems are Windows Vista through 8. The version for Windows 8, however, is to make applications for the Windows 8 Metro (AKA Fullscreen) Mode, the one seen on startup.
