Why don't conservatives like soccer?
It's a competitive sport and the players have to be athletic...I don't understand why they're so reluctant to accept it.
I live in the south (for now) and although almost every sport gets attention around here, soccer does not.
(Hockey doesn't either but that's understandable since we hardly ever see any ice, other than in a mall, so a lot of people don't relate)
On a popular TV show, a character mentioned that conservatives thought it was a ploy to make everyone Communist so I thought if it was mentioned on a show that strives for ratings and it was something I had noticed was treated differently around here, there might be something to it.

I wonder what the basis of this question is. I don't see any logical reason why the questioner would opine that conservatives don't like soccer.
I'm a big fan of soccer, and have been for 4 decades.
I will admit that I despise the diving that occurs in the game.
Heck, soccer is almost as good as rugby.

Yeah but it's about as exciting as watching paint dry. Soccer suffers from the same problem basketball used to have. Soccer needs a "shot clock". You get possession of the ball... you have 45-60 seconds to advance the ball and attempt to score. Although I will say that baseball has to be the most boring sport in the history of man.

I like soccer/football...
I just don't like how it has been watered down and used as a tool by a certain ideological segment in this country to indoctrinate kids into being anti-competitive...

Are you kidding? I didn't even know this was a political issue. I have no issue with soccer and played it up through Junior High.

I like it.....at least there is plenty of action. I would rather watch paint dry than watch baseball.
My son played soccer when he was a kid.
