Although homosexuality is becoming more accepted over time, Africa in general is very far behind the Western world in being open to it. Being openly gay, making advances on other men, and promoting a homosexual lifestyle could put you at serious risk. In 2010, homosexual acts were still considered a crime (and I believe they still are), and although the new constitution is supposed to offer more protection against human rights violations, I'm pretty sure sexual orientation is not considered to be a protected status.

Many powerful religious leaders, politicians, and celebrities regularly speak out against homosexuality, and a great majority of Kenyans believe that being gay is wrong, unnatural, and unacceptable.

Go if you want, but be prepared to keep that aspect of your life top secret. You will almost certainly be harassed, discriminated against, disowned, and possibly beaten or killed if the wrong people find out.

I would think No. Most places in Africa are not gay friendly and they somehow feel threatened by the idea. It is probably a crime to be gay.
