i currently have next g but signal still poor?
im only 30 mins from perth i have checked covergae map im well inside coverage area but still no good.Basically will a 4 g phone improve my signal i mean is it a different band to next g ?

The coverage map may say you get excellent coverage, but if you're in a building with thick walls or lots of metal, or sitting beside an electricity station, you're not going to get as strong a signal. Equally, if you're down in a valley, or on top ot a hill, the signal may suffer.
Changing to a 4G phone will not make the signal stronger.
A good test would be to go for a walk with your phone - if you're in a built up area, then head for somewhere more open. If you're in a valley, try somewhere out of the valley. If you're up a hill, try coming down it.
