Dear Alyssa Rae
What a lovely thing for you to do!
Might I suggest that perhaps instead of giving her 16 things all on the same day, have you thought of giving her one small present on the day, some chocolates and a nice card? (Could be a home made one).
I personally think the 16 little presents is a very sweet idea. But why not think of 15 different things that you and her would like to do together? Perhaps you could write out 15 envelopes all different colours, (or could be the same colour it does not matter).
In each one pick something to put into the envelopes, would be helpful if it is paper based as it will add to the surprise each time one is opened! If I might suggest an example to give you something to think about.
A postcard with a picture on it of somewhere that your friend would like to go to. You could arrange a picnic perhaps. You do not have to buy a postcard each time, as there are plenty of free pictures on the internet. Perhaps a picture of a trendy hair decoration and you could both go into town and let your friend choose one. Claire's Accessories have plenty to choose from and are not too expensive. Even a pretty bookmark will fit into one of the envelopes too.
None of the treats need to be very expensive at all. You just need a bit of imagination. Try and think of all the fun things that you and your friend have done together.
You could ask your friend to pick an envelope each time you meet up and that way you will both have something to look forward to.
If that does not appeal, have you thought of doing the envelopes like a treasure hunt. You carry the pack of envelopes and at each place you come to out comes another envelope for the next clue. (Just remember not to let your friend see how many envelopes that you have got with you). You could put a strange picture in by blurring it on the computer. Or it could be a famous landmark in your local area. This could all lead up to her finding the present you have got her. Or perhaps a party in the park, if the weather is nice.
I think your friend will be rather touched with all the planning that has gone into her birthday!
After all sixteen is a very special birthday!
I wish you and your friend all the best for a lovely day.
