I leave my computer plugged in most of the time and now it is not working.?

Could the battery be dead? How would I check that?

Update:

It is a laptop, Dell. How long do those batteries last? I thought that plugged they would go forever.

Plug your laptop into the charger, then try and turn your laptop on. If it works, then continue to boot up, and then take the charger out. If the computer turns off (as if you had shut it down or it just completely crashes) then you will need a new battery. The reason this happened is because since you left it charging all the time, the computer's battery never got a chance to try and keep a charge; the more you let your computer completely die, and then charge to 100%, the longer your battery will last (depending on age and other variables, but if it is new then what I just said is the way to go.)

Battery is probably fried. Buy a new battery and if it's plugged in, take the battery out when it's completely charged to save the battery.

to check that, you take off your battery, plug in your laptop and try to turn it on. if it wont turn on, its not the battery. if that is the case, it probably is the actual charger cable. Battery should last at very least 2-3 years.

You check it out by just replacing a charged battery to see whether it is working or not. If it doesnt means that there cud be problem in the hardware.........
