does anything need to be done to set up internet in a flat?
I'm moving into a new Apartment in a week, but it doesn't have broadband.
I was thinking of buying one of those dongle things (said 18 months £10 a month?)
Is there anything that needs to be done first or will it provide internet straight away? or do i need to set / pay for something else.
Or is there a cheaper was of getting internet?
i've never been a tenant alone before so i'm not sure how this sort of thing works.

Buying a dongle thing would be better option if you dont care much about speed, as the speed is limited but still it would be fine for watching youtube. If you plan to live longer(more than a year), getting a telephone line with internet modem would be good. It would be cheaper as with a little extra you are getting a telephone too. ( But, personally I wont go for it, as we hardly use phones these days)
Most cheapest way would be just use an LTE/3G phone ( but you are limited by data usage limit it offers). But, speed is comparable with usb modem ( the dongle thing you mentioned ).
So, choose your options considering these trade offs.
