Does anyone know the radiation exposure from digital dental x-rays vs regular film x-rays?

I have had many x-rays over the years, and am concerned about the cumulative effect on the body. I have to confess I am not reassured by the "4 hours in the sunlight" (for example) comparison.

Many x-rays over many years is not a great issue

It is over exposure to x-rays over a short period that can be dangerous

That is why X-ray machinery is supposed to get a health check on a regular basis

To ensure they are not emitting more than a "Safe" level of Radiation

I easily have accomplished a great number of study on x-rays, being in the dental field. specific, digital x-rays have incredibly low radiation, a lot decrease than a typical x-ray. yet just to furnish you a concept. the quantity of radiation from a common dental x-ray, you may get from dozing in the comparable mattress with somebody for a year, or from even examining a e book for an hour an afternoon! It helped me to place it into potential. additionally, with dental x-rays, the section the radiation is going is fairly focused right into a pair of two inch section. It would not scatter throughout your head. possibly you are able to ask for a distinctive assistant if she would not seem to be able to get the x-ray the 1st time. I comprehend dental x-rays are very uncomfortable extraordinarily to be re-doing.

Given that the area that would receive the most radiation is your cheek, and that the most likely cancer people get is squamous cell carcinoma (a skin cancer), and the fact that the cheek is one of the least likely spots to get that cancer it stands to reason that they are safe.

But the comparisons to sunlight and such are accurate. More comparisons: if you live in a brick house, the mortar gives off more radiation in a year than several dental x-rays. Same if you use a natural gas stove (residual radon in natural gas).

Digital x-rays apparently are the equivalent to standing in front of a microwave in terms of radiation. The equipment is also tested regularly to make sure the radiation levels are 'safe'.
