Physics Velocity Urgent Help Needed!?

A car travelled 50 km in the North direction from Town X towards Town Y. The car left Town X at 10.15 am, stopped for a 15 minute rest along the way and reached town Y at 11.30 am. The car then left for Town Z immediately in the West direction, travelling for 60km/h for 2.0 hours.

(a) Find the displacement of the car

(b) Find the average speed of the car for the whole journey

(c) Find the average velocity of the car

    (a) disp = -(60km/h*2h) i + 50km j = -120km i + 50km j

    mag disp = √(120² + 50²) km = 130 km

    Θ = arctan(50/-120) = -23º + 180º = 157º ccw from x-axis

    (b) speed = distance / time = (50 + 120)km / (1hr + 2hr) = 57 km/h

    (c) Vavg = disp / time = 130km / 3h = 43 km/h

    Θ = 157º = 23º N of West
