Being a Top Contributor has nothing to do with points, levels or how long you have been on the site. It has to do with focus. If you answer a lot in a single category, and get a certain number of Best Answers there as a result, you earn the badge. Exact numbers are not known, as they've never been revealed. But rumor says 50-60 answers in 2-3 weeks, and about 10% - 12% of THOSE answers being chosen as Best Answer. Which can be done at lower levels, with patience and good answers.
