Fantasy Baseball Keeper ?

In a H2H Mixed league I'm trying to decide on my Keeper picks and I need some help/input choosing players for my roster.

I need 3 Keepers from this group =

*Note--The round of draft pick I'd be giving up is in parenthesis

Hanley Ramirez (2nd Rd Draft Value)

Jacoby Ellsbury (7th Rd Value)

Ben Zobrist (5th Rd Value)

Yadier Molina (17th Rd Value)

Chris Sale (19th Rd)

Kris Medlen (21st Rd)

Aroldis Chapman (22nd Rd)

Who do you guys think I should go with here in 2013 as my Keeper Picks? & Why? Thoughts, Ideas, & or Opinions are always welcome! Thanks in advance!

I'm already keeping (in case it helps) --Joey Votto, McCutchen, Allen Craig (20th Rd), & Manny Machado (23rd Rd)

Update:

10 Team Mixed Lg. 7-8 Keepers as far as I know of right now.

I'm wondering how many teams are your league,,just to gauge how long each round is,and how many total players are being kept..

Jacoby is a geat keeper for a 7th rounder, unless you are in a 4 - 6 team league.Jacoby is in a contract year,so he may have the pretty common "career year" looking for that big contract. The only catcher worth keeping in my eyes is Buster Posey. You got Molina in round 17,you'll probably be able to redraft him in round 12,or later.Ellsbury will be a lot tougher to redraft, because he'll probably go in the top 5 rounds, depending on the size of your league. And,Han Rams' days of being a fantasy beast are over.

I wouldn't keep Zobrist since you're keeping Craig, and I love all 3 of your SPs,but I'd only keep 2.They are talking about making Chapman a starter, but they tried doing that before & he got injured. His arm couldn't take it.And,I think you'll be able to easily redraft Chapman after round 9.

I'd keep Ellsbury,Sale, and Medlin..(Keep in mind a lot of people here don't know who Medlin is.)

I think you should keep Yadier Molina (17th Rd), Chris Sale (19th Rd), and Kris Medlen (21st Rd). Five hitters and two pitchers is a good ratio. The rounds you got Sale and Medlen in are too valuable to let them go. Hanley is not worthy of a 2nd round pick, who knows what Ellsbury will do (if he even stays healthy), and Chapman in the 22nd is tempting, but you have two guys that have already shown they can excel at starting. I actually do really like Zobrist and all the position eligability he has. If you wanted to keep him and throw back either pitcher that would make sense too. But I think building your staff around Medlen and Sale would be a great start to solidifying your rotation.

  • Yadier Molina - He's the 2nd best hitting catcher in MLB, behind Posey. Gotta keep em.

Chris Sale - He had an excellent year last year. He got a little tired at the end of the season, it was his first year as a starter. His stuff is legit filthy, and he's been buliding up arm strength in the offseason to go deep into the season without the same fatigue as 2011. He'll be ready and he'll be damn good.

Ben Zobrist - In ESPN lg's he has SS/2B/OF eligibillity. .270, 20 hr, 14sb, 39 doubles last year. And that was with Longo out most the year. He'll be even better protected this year. 2B and SS are hard to fill with solid talent, and you can play em in either spot.

Dont keep Aroldis- changing into a SP this year and we dont know if he'll be any good as a starter

Dont keep Hanley, he's been struggling and you got zobrist now at SS

Dont keep Medlen his stats should come back to earth next year when he has to pitch the whole season

Dont keep Ellsbury, too injury prone. Big risk, unless yer after SB's.

Tough to say since everyone is so even.

Chapman is a great keeper, but he'll be limited this year in innings, but after this year he's a gold mine.

    Keep:

Ellsbury. He's a high risk-high reward player. It's a gamble on him, and it's a gamble I would be willing to take. I'd rather have him be gold or garbage on my team than any other team. The payoff can be great.

Sale: He won't be on a sort of innings cap this year or health concerns. He's a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 200 Ks guy that can do better than a lot of guys being picked higher than him such as CC, Greinke, and Weaver.

Ramirez: Another high risk-high reward player. This year he might only dedicate himself to being a contact hitter since Dodger stadium isn't really hitter-friendly. He's a solid option at a scarce 2B and SS positions this year. He'll most likely give you a .285 AVG, 18 HR, 90 RBIs, 100 Runs, 30 SBs if he dedicates less to hitting the ball out of the park.

Wow!! There are great answers here....these people really know their baseball stuff, I love it! So I'm not really gonna go into things since its already been said pretty well. My preference would be Ellsbury ( I believe his health will be fine this season. He's a beast. I would love him in my Yankee OF ). Sale is definitely a keeper. Love that guy. There's nothing better than a young star like him. Chapman would have been great as a closer but I wouldn't take the risk using him because of the starting pitcher thing this season. And actually I like Hanley....I think he will bounce back even better this year....????? Thanks for answering my Heyward, Harper question. Have a great season. I'm ready for Baseball!!!!

I'd keep Ellsbury, Medlen and Chapman.

Chapman was an overpowering pitcher last year

Medlen was one of, if not Atlanta's best pitcher coming into the starters role and he'll get a full year now.

Ellsbury was injured last year, but the year before he was a MVP candidate. He'll hit for average, hit a few homeruns and get done steals. If he was healthy he would have normally went in the first two rounds this year

    Yadier Molina

    Hanley Ramirez

    Aroldis Chapman

You can't go wrong with Yadi, hardly misses any games, starting to find his offensive power, and hardly ever strikes out

I'm not a big fan of Hanley, but he's on a stacked lineup and is sure to get you runs.

Chapman moving to the rotation is a risk, but could potentially be a good one. If all else fails, he will move to the bullpen and close again.

Looks like your best players work from the bottom up. Hanley has not been the same, and Ellsbury has been injury prone. I'd keep Molina, Medlen and Chapman.

Keep chapman because he is worth a 22 pick, Molina because he is a solid catcher and worth a 17th pick and I would probably go with Chris Sale
