Crick Sec-Do U agree that this constant fear of posts being removed has taken d fun out of asking Ques freely?
(1) Earlier anything related with cricket, be it about a player, condition, situation was discussed openly. Now I fear posting a question, lest it would be taken off on any pretext. I am asking this after seeing few posts, which have remained open, with similar contents off late.
(2) Do you think that regular users in Cricket section, who don't frequent other sections, should be allowed to discuss point of views with others, in this open forum.
(3) Keeping it totally about cricket has taken fun out. I am not saying that persons who like to say nasty things in the garb of cricket questions should be allowed to roam free but YA should allow bit of leeway, else its driving the genuine users away with such strict hand.
(4) Its not just the non cricketing & cricketing contents, which is taken out but utter nonsense & troll posts stick around, despite obvious bad lingo & bad race/color/country based racist posts, which makes it even more unsavory visiting YA.
Pl share your views & I hope this post will stay on, else we know that someone up there (at YA) doesn't like genuine discussions. Pl have your say..

I'd give this question a five star rating if I could.
There has been some excellent Q&A taken down over the last three months or so. Perhaps some were not within a harshly defined interpretation of the terms, but there seems to be no lattitude for any discretion on the part of the moderators at all (assuming a human is actually looking at the reports and they are not simply being deleted on weight of numbers).
A lot of colour and movement has been ripped out of the section because of over reporting, I can't understand why Yahoo would deliberately antagonise non-troll users this way. It's our numbers that generate their revenue after all.
There's something wrong with the system when YahWho's questions get deleted, but some obviously p!ssed racist nut job stays up.
I started being a bit more PC, but it's reached the point where I don't really care. I'd much rather have a bit of fun on here and interact with the other users. There's so much reporting going on I can't see Yahoo suspending everyone, and the points have no value attached.

You have made a good point.I agree with u that there should be some discussions outside the topic as well. That would make this section more interesting especially for regular users.Answerin or asking strictly about the topic might get boring sometimes.
Little of humor is a necessity but I m not sure YA will allow it to happen. Many a times questions related to users or anything closely related to the topic get deleted. And it would be damn frustrating when a genuine cricket post is violated.
It depends a lot on the style of ur answering or asking though. If you respond to a question within one line or so,example-"rofl are u kidding me here?!!" & there are chances that these kinds of answers could get reported. And YA usually doesn't notice the question and why such a answer was posted.U have chances of receiving a violation for that answer & hardly there is any chance that it could be re-instated.
I would like it if YA brings some changes & able to give more freedom to the users, but its their site & that's is the way it is.

What a question, you've got your finger right on the pulse with this one TJ, yes it has.
I remember before Christmas when all that nonsense started. Then at Christmas itself someone started sending out their "seasonal deletings." When Aseed told me that he had had 16 posts removed in one day and that you had had just as many, if not more removed, I found it hard to believe at first because it should have been obvious that someone was making mischief when it's big numbers like that, but when you sent me an email saying almost the same thing and I saw your home page saying something like -150 points it sunk in.
Shortly after the new year I didn't get on much after my dad died but when I did I had a sh!t load of violations waiting for me, which were all resolved questions from months ago. Then I also heard other people complaining so clearly something has gotten out of hand. Before Christmas when me you and Dinith had that guy calling us out to insult us and then he started starring all my questions with multiple accounts to make it look like I was cheating, I chased it up with chatzy and the abuse team but I haven't had the time nor the inclination recently, I have had other things far more serious on my mind and I just can't be bothered any more.
I enjoy cricket and I enjoy talking to other cricket fans but yes, the fun has started going out of posting on here. We used to have a fun forum with some good joke posts that didn't hurt anybody. In the past we also used to occasionally discuss other sports (which isn't a violation btw) but now it's gotten all too serious. The worst thing is that you don't even get given a reason for these violations, or at least I didn't, it' was always just a cursory email saying your question has been reported by the answers community then something about you have posted content in violation of our community guidelines but they never gave a reason and said why.
Oh well, I won't be on as much now but I'll still log in from time to time. England have got New Zealand coming up and India have got Australia. Then after that England have got back to back, home and away, five match series' against the Aussies. Hopefully it will have improved by then or I might just use another forum. It'll be a shame because this one did have the easiest, most fun and user friendly format but something has gone wrong here, noticeably.

I agree with you.Bit of banter is not bad, some topics in Cricket can be controversial which gives rise to debates and each one of us have different views about it.Now as long as its a debate related to Cricket which doesn't cross between users having different opinions its fine, this is where YA should interfere IMO.When an answer is not acceptable or there is a use of obscene or bad words then those should be removed immediately. If its related to cricket then it becomes interesting, otherwise Cricket section just only cannot survive on all those serious Q,there should be a bit of everything. What happens in YA is exactly the opposite, removing good Q and keeping the bad posts or answers seems to be the norm for a long time.

Indeed, even cricket commentators chat about other interesting subjects relating or not relating to cricket.
Hi Jeramiah,
We're sorry, but upon review we found that the following answer was indeed in violation of the Yahoo!7 Answers Community Guidelines:
"There was some super bowling at the WACA today :)"
Violation Reason: Chatting / Not a Question or Answer / Incomprehensible

What really hurt is not the fear but fake reporting as well as totally unrelated absurd postings in this section. Sarcastic answers to these types of questions as well are cricket related postings are reported, review petition not accepted and a genuine contributor is slighted. This is reality of the day. Sometimes I feel like leaving this section altogether.
- ?Lv 68 years ago
Even when I ask a funny Q, people deal with it so seriously, no wonder Cricket section is so boring these days, people never get the sarcasm.
People are allowed to discuss cricket here...lol Nobody stops us.
Just a month ago when I got 16 violations, 14 of 'em were reinstated, almost all of them were like, Do you agree with xyz here, What do you think of this, etc etc...
Plus as another user the other day remarked, why do you care so much for points? A violation once a while won't get you suspended. So feel free and ask.

Y!A is a place where you can only ask "knowledge seeking questions" and give "knowledge sharing answers"..
For example believe it or not but following Questions are violations! I also came to know that recently.
(1)'Who is your favorite player?"
â¦It is not a knowledge seeking Q. And its like chatting with others asking hey man what's your favorite shirt!? (Chat based violation)
(2)"How many of you would join me to congratulate Australia for their fine victory today?"
â¦(Chat based violation)
(3)"How many runs did Australia score today?"
Additional details:- @Rdg hey man I didn't report any of your answers"
⦠The main Q is ok but by addressing another member in his name is a chat violation. And further more mentioning that you didn't report anything is not an attempt to ask a question!
So you have to ask them in a politically correct manner like CJ mentioned.
(1)"What are the good qualities of your favorite player?"
(2)"How did Australia completely decimated their opponent today?"
(3)""How many runs did Australia score today?"
Additional details:- Add nothing or just say in reply to a user "Sorry but we are here to ask and answer cricket content and contribute. This should not be a place to call out other members or chat. Let's make Y!A great place which is polite and clean"
So in our posts we always have to be polite, be good citizens and show our appreciation for Y!A by following it's rules 100% to completely secure our posts from being reported.
Yes like most of you I personally , love if Y!A becomes more user friendly place where we can have some humor, bit of a banter and some chat with fellow members such as asking their well being but Y!A does not allow us to do so. Therefore no choice other than stay withing community guidelines and rules.
If we want those rules to be changed and be more user friendly we can make a suggestion at Y!A suggestion boards. Y!A officials may take it in to consideration. Otherwise we should either stay within rules or leave as the door is open.
One more thing. Some Y!A rules contain loop holes.
i.e:- 'âºWhat is your favorite bat" Q is a chatting violation. But if you ask it as "What's your fav. bat? I am hoping to buy a bat. What's the best brand?" then it becomes knowledge seeking question!
⺠Apparently " What do you think about Sl winning the world cup 1996" Q is NOT a violation! (from what I know). But it is not a knowledge seeking Q, is it? It is an opinion seeking Q!
⺠If just give a link as an answer(with no description) it is violation if the Q is not asking for a link. But if you give wrongful information its not a violation as far as it is not harmful!
ie:- How to hit 6's in EA cricket 2010 game.
Answer 1- www.gammez.com(link)
Answer 2- Press arrow key + F
Answer 1 violation as it just gives a link as an answer. But Answer 2 is not a violation even if the key combination is completely wrong! But actually answer1 is helpful while answer 2 is not helpful at all!
So I strongly believe Y!A should have better definitions for some of the rules. And they should make more sense to make this a much better user friendly place.
Source(s): You can discuss this in suggestion boards. http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&... This has become an issue these days because lot of wrongful reporting goes on. Some have make a habit of reporting their rival users and the posts they just don't agree! As for Jeramiah's answer deletion seriously I don't really see anything wrong with that answer! Perhaps all the major members here sign a petition to Y!A about this. If genuine users start leaving the site It would lack the quality of this section and trolls will rule this place! - ?Lv 78 years ago
It’s a cumulative effort of some users. I don’t think one single user has the power of deleting those many questions on daily basis. After this issue was raised some three weeks ago, I tried to check my reporting power and reported some troll questions only to see they were intact until they were resolved. So, from what I’ve learnt, you need to always be active in reporting posts on daily basis in order to increase your reporting power, else it won’t work. I suggest the users to try and report some abusive posts randomely and you’ll get to know your reporting power.
To avoid this all, I’ve deleted all my contacts and fans. I couldn’t remove only some users. So I removed all of them. Hope my friends won’t mind that at all.

I agree.I am tired of being reported for such simple things as telling someone that they should post their Q in the correct category to get some helpful answers.I am positively certain that one person is reporting most of the stuff in this section & they may not even be regulars here, just a nasty little reporting freak. We all get reported,it doesn't matter what country we come from.I don't blame any of the regulars, the trolls have little or no reporting power.I think the blame game should stop & people should get over being upset when others have an opinion they don't like.It is hard to find a decent Q here these days, most are asking tired old Qs such as 'Sachin or Bradman' etc.
