What's happening with me? I feel so distant and unreal?
I'm really not sure how to explain it... I experienced similar feelings before, but they never were as strong. Sorry if my description appears somewhat odd to you, I'm just pretty confused and agitated right now, and I can't seem to get my thoughts in order.
I just feel like the world around me might not really exist. It sounds crazy and I know it's there, but I move my fingers and limbs around and touch things, but they are just... there, but not really. When I look around it is as if I was looking at something staged. It's my place, but if someone told me that it isn't really that but I was looking at it in a dream or from another room, I wouldn't be too surprised. Nevertheless, I KNOW that everything is just the way I see it, it just doesn't FEEL like it!
I've had a pretty bad week so far and generally didn't particularly enjoy the last couple of months, as I've been dealing with recurring depressions and such for almost eight years now and I'm beginning to feel pretty bad again without having a true reason for it.
But I haven't been feeling like I do now... at least not really.
Do you know what this is? Or if I can do anything about it?

Depression maybe? Social anxiety?? Suicidal? May be so because i feel like that often now. Its an ugly feeling, you just want to be distant from everyone. I have a history of depression, a while ago i started experiencing anxiety attacks.. which soon led to suicidal thoughts. Everything seemed so fake to me, like i know where i stand & where im at but all things seemed like just a big *** background/scene/stage (but without the background music, so its twice as uncomfortable). Like a black& white movie with no sound?? I felt out of place. Maybe u can relate to this????

first off let me tell you i have gone through the EXACT same thing as you. it is called depersonalization and derealization. I suffered from this because I have PTSD and genreal anxiety due to several things. Anyway, i suffered for a while with this and it is the scariest **** to deal with. ANyway i finally got help, i was put on 30 mg of Celexa which is an anti depressant. That helped tremendously and then i also go to a therapist once a week which has helped even more than the medicine. You need to learn how to control youre mind and realize that you are the controller of it. I found a quote that helped me get through this. It goes "i think therefore i am" . Since you are thinking you exist. and you need to learn not to be afraid of these thoughts and that u have total control.

Everyone feels like their life might be a dream sometime in their life.. But ya the way u describe it it sounds a little more serious. This could lead to depression... Try to get a change if scenery, relax, enjoy yourself!

I don't think anyone on here can tell you why you're feeling this way but depression happens for many reasons maybe its your body chemistry or some life events. I think you need to see a doctor for help. They might prescribe you medication or give you counseling but it's their job to help you feel better don't be embarrassed to talk to your doctor.
