Should I do these repairs on my 2003 PT Cruiser? Wheel bearings, full brakes, new tires. Is it worth it?

In the last two years, I have replaced tie rods, timing belt, water pump and rebuilt the transmission. So I have invested quite a lot of money. It only has 102,000 km. on it. Does anyone know the approximate cost of these repairs, please? I am in Canada. Thanks.

Update:

Well, I know it is a junk car, and yet I have an attachment to it and like it in many ways. I shall extend the question, in hope of getting a complete answer. Thanks for the input

First off,you should have said if it is a pt,pt touring,or pt limited edition. As the brakes differ in the rear.

The bearings are cheap if you make a few calls.Mine were 18.50 each. Some say get genuine but PT's are known for going through wheel bearings fast anyway so cheap is ok.Dealers charge more per hour but do it faster, try asking for a job rate. One bearing should be 45 minutes tops unless a torch is needed the one hour plus torch fee.[they are pressed in bearings,so not an at home project]

Rotors and drums are cheap too for a PT.My PT is a LimitedEdition with rear disk so the rears are more than the front yet still not that pricey.Anyone can do brakes.

Your PT could come with 15,16,or 17 inch wheels so noone can predict tire cost.

My advice.A timing belt and water pump are good new things on a PT.102,000 is not that much for an engine with normal oil changes. The resale value for your PT will be the same in two years if it does not have rust as they are very versatile and good looking.I would keep it.

Yet I do recommend using synthetic oil in a PT as it does make a difference in running rpm's hwy and gas mileage.I got over 15 % better gas mileage and 100 km/h rpm's went from 2650 to 2250 with Redline synthetic. The added K&N air filter will also save from 3-8% mileage[depends how you drive it] and add a growl to the sound and add a bit of pep on highway passings.

I normally prefer a larger car or truck but I love my PT.If you search car clubs you will see how many PT lovers are in North america and the U.K.It is a car worth rust checking.Plus they have a damn good stereo.

    I wish you luck

sounds like your car needs some repairs this is part of car ownereship it is not an investment so get that part out of your head. And dont go back two years look forward to a year from now. Will it last that long? and do you have enough money to replace it with another better car? I save my money and stayed home many a night I had roommates who drove the same crappy car worked hard all week and planned on how to spend that pay check. at the end of a year I had traded up to a lot nicer car. And my roommates grumbled . I used to laugh thinking about that but its ttrue. If you want to upgrade the car the best way to do it is to find what you want then sell the one you dont need. That way you will always have a car. And sometimes having a second car is not a bad idea. good used cars are harder to find than ever.
