Does God speak to you? Personally or, through action?

I've been cheeky and asked two questions, but that's more a spite to yahoo that mean't as an offence to the reader. :)

I speak to a lot of believers who claim God speaks directly to them, i find it hard to believe personally, as an ex-Christian, i didn't hear anything. But it's interesting to read about other people's experiences.

Thanks in advance.

Atheists, eH you can answer but only because i said so. :)

I speak to god quite a lot. I asked him how Elvis was doing and to give him my best regards. God said sure thing brother I will let him know as soon as he comes out of McDonalds. God doesn't speak to anyone because he does not exist. It's your fear of the unknown, fear of death and longing for immortality that makes you think this thing exists. Do you believe in Zeus? To those who do you are to them an atheist. If you were born in Baghdad or Tehram you would be a muslim. In Japan a zen Buddhist. The most violent countries are the most religious. Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Northern Ireland, Mexico and the USA. Religion is simply a spritual narcotic designed to dull the senses to an unjust and cruel world. When you next speak to him can you ask him why he made such a bad job of creating the world with its tsaunamis, earthquakes, floods. How about the Black Death what did he do to stop it or the holocaust and much more. Your prisons are full of religious nutters.

As a christian did you every read Joel 2 and Acts 2

    Peter Addresses the Crowd

14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 “‘In the last days, God says,

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

your young men will see visions,

your old men will dream dreams.

18 Even on my servants, both men and women,

I will pour out my Spirit in those days,

    and they will prophesy.

19 I will show wonders in the heavens above

and signs on the earth below,

blood and fire and billows of smoke.

20 The sun will be turned to darkness

    and the moon to blood

before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

    21 And everyone who calls

on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[c]

Yes he does talk to christians

'God' speaks through Newton and Einstein's equations, not through some Bronze age text, or a church that covers up institutionalised paedophilia, and certainly not on morality. Only a small god would do that.

By God I mean the universe, but God is just a quaint way of anthropomorphising the universe.

    It's an ugly habit.

Sam, no you're not an asshole. that was the biggest LOL of the evening.

I personally think that, half of the time, it's nothing more than just an inner warmth - a personal feeling gained when faith is felt. A friend of mine claims that whenever God speaks to him, he gets inner warmth. I believe that it's just a psychological thing, but I won't say anything to save a pointless argument.

i think of it would be large for any and theism team or no longer if the alleged contributors of stated communities might and ought to persist with their tenets,no count if those tenets have been mandated via a "divine" intelligence or human intelligence. the unlucky area is that super majorities of the stated guy or woman or persons via their movements in direction of their fellow adult men and females fail to realize this. If a definite team believed that prayer might advance their area of their international and it would inspire an action then might it no longer be an "action" to desire to help advance that international? we could come to a balanced unity of prayer AND action to advance the international the place Atheists and Theists can stay with admire for eachothers ideals and disbeliefs, because of the fact earlier we are able to achieve this, tenets are yet ineffective babble.

Yes, she says "step away from the fudge." lol

Seriously I don't think anybody hears from God, I think it's simply their own thoughts and if they get an idea they attribute it to a higher power, like thanking a God when a surgeon does a 12-hour surgery and saves somebody's life.

Imagine a parent who has vast knowledge but who rarely speaks to his children. Jehovah lovingly communicates with mankind, and he does it generously. The Scriptures call him the “Grand Instructor.” (Isaiah 30:20) In his loving-kindness, he reaches out even to those who are not inclined to listen to him. For example, Ezekiel was assigned to preach to those whom Jehovah knew would be unreceptive. Jehovah said: “Son of man, go, enter in among the house of Israel, and you must speak with my words to them.” Then he warned: “They will not want to listen to you, for they are not wanting to listen to me; because all those of the house of Israel are hardheaded and hardhearted.” That was a difficult assignment, but Ezekiel carried it out faithfully, and in doing so, he reflected Jehovah’s compassion. Ezekiel 3:4, 7-9.

Jehovah desires that “all sorts of men . . . be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4) He has spoken through prophets, through angels, and even through his beloved Son, Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 1:1, 2; 2:2) To Pilate, Jesus said: “For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone that is on the side of the truth listens to my voice.” Pilate had a priceless opportunity to learn the truth about Jehovah’s provision for salvation directly from the Son of God. However, Pilate was not on the side of the truth, and he did not want to learn from Jesus. Instead, Pilate cynically replied: “What is truth?” (John 18:37, 38) How sad for him!

But there were those who did listen. To his disciples Jesus said: “Happy are your eyes because they behold, and your ears because they hear.”Matthew 13:16.

Jehovah has preserved the truth by means of the Bible and has made it available to people everywhere. The Bible reveals things as they actually are. It describes God’s attributes, purposes, and commands, as well as the true state of affairs among mankind. Jesus said in prayer to Jehovah: “Your word is truth.” (John 17:17) Because of this, the Bible is a unique book. It alone was written under inspiration of the God who knows all things. (2 Timothy 3:16) It is a precious gift to humankind, one that God’s servants treasure. We are wise to read it daily because this is how he speaks to me.. Every day.
