Yes, you can take the drivers test without doing Drivers Ed as long as you are 18 or older.

Drivers Ed is only required when you are 17 or younger.

It's actually a much better idea to go ahead and take Drivers Ed even though you are 18. Taking Drivers Ed and passing it will reduce your insurance payments, and it'll give you driving skills and knowledge you may need one day.

You can find Drivers Ed classes for as little as $200. That's nothing compared to the amount of money you'll save on your insurance in the future.

It'll also be easier to pass your drivers test with taking Drivers Ed because you'll know what to expect, and you'll know what your instructor will be expecting.

    Good luck :)

    -Edit-

You may need to have your permit, but that's pretty easy, it's just a simple test taken on a computer. I don't believe you need your permit though, that would be something you could ask the DMV.

what planet are you from? no one is just given a drivers license. you go down to any state and take the written test. If you pass that you will get a permit. There are things you have to do on the permit so you follow those procedures and then you show up and with your PERMIT take the driving test with a dmv employee. If you pass that you get your license but not before. license is a privilidge not some rite of pasage because you have another birthday.
