Why is my gouldian finch's eye sealed shut?
One of her eyes is round, looks normal. The other one looks like it collapsed. She seems unable to open it. I never noticed weeping either, or puss, so nothing set off alarm signals that she had an eye infection.
Why would this be?
She is also not well ... she is kind of fluffed up, etc.
This bird hasn't been 100% since the day I got her, but I was wondering if anybody could shed any light on this problem, and possibly how to solve it.
I have a number of OTC antibiotics but I really hate using them.
A few years ago my birds were hit with a strain of enteritis. Do you think this is it, resurfacing?

By what you are describing, your bird seems to have a "punctured" eye this could have been caused by fighting or it has caught it's eye on a sharp object, this would lead to the fluid(intraocular fluid) of the eye seeping out.. you need to see an avian vet to confirm this, if it is loss of fluid , then she will be blind in that eye, and nothing can be done for this .not even anti bio tics can repair the damage,
Enteritis would not cause the eye problem
But you would need a vet to confirm this.

i might take the gouldian finch to be sure an avian vet. Your finch might have conjunctivitis or a respiration an infection. the two illnesses choose medcial scientific care. Washing the attention out might in basic terms help if the finch has some merchandise or debris in its eye. Take the finch to a vet as quickly as conceivable.
