Shampoo is more for cleaning and conditioner is for smoothing/ softening the hair. If you do them in reverse the shampoo takes away from the smoothing and softening the conditioner just did and makes the conditioner less effective.

Shampoo strips all the dirt and natural oils from your hair. Conditioner replaces the lost moisture. You can reverse the process but if you have dry or curly hair, your hair might wind up feeling dry or not moisturized enough.

Shampoo cleans your hair where as conditioner simply makes it smooth. So if you used conditioner first the shampoo would then wash it out making it vertually useless.

Shampoo washes out conditioner then it doesn't condition the hair.so shampoo then condition .i can't explain it any simpler than this.
