Is 1/2" MDF fine for small woofer box?

I'm building a vented box for a small 6.5" woofer to use along with my Dayton Audio B652s as a home audio system. 3/4" is way overkill for a 50 watt RMS woofer, right?

Is vented a good idea for a small woofer, or should I just go with sealed?

That should be plenty. i would personally go with ported. it just sounds better to me. make sure the tuning is where the sub needs to be and not wherever. each one has a specific frequency it performs best at
