Chemical equilibrium question?
a chemist trying to synthesize a particular compound attempts two different reactions. the equilibrium constants for the to equations are 23.3 and 2.2*10^4. The reaction with the smaller equilibrium constant creates more desired product. Why does this happen?

A large Keq will favor the starting material in a reaction, where a small Keq will favor the products. Assuming you want the product in a reaction, a smaller Keq will be needed.
