Duel booting Windows 7 and Windows XP?
Hey there! I have been wondering if I could duel boot Windows XP with my current windows 7.
At the moment I am using Windows 7 Home Premium
I have a installation disk for Windows XP Profressional.
Is it possible to keep Windows 7, and use Duel Bootup with both 7 and XP?
I only have 1GB RAM so Windows XP would be faster, if I am correct.

you can do it this way. for beginners i recommend a virtual machine LOOK IT UP.
2. you can put in 2 hard drives and do it at boot. it works to.
3. you can partion your hard drive to dule boot. I don't think your ready for that one yet.
All these options will work.

I did that Jonny its kinda easy if you seen someone do it here are the quick steps
1. partition your hard drive, easy way to do this is use Acronis disk director" make another primary drive
2.go into your computers bios and make it boot from cd/dvd first
3. instal windows xp on the partition you created, not touching windows 7
4.Once installation finishes instal a 3rd party bootoader like "easybcd"
that way you will have a boot option next time you start your computer asking witch operating system you would like to use

Sure it's possible, if XP doesn't screw up the Windows 7 BCD Loader, which gets replaced by XP's Master Boot Record. This makes W 7 disappear.
BUT, if you get past that:
XP Pro with Service Pack 3 needs more than 1 GB of RAM, as does Windows 7 32-bit. I personally recommend at least 2 GB of RAM, but 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM, would be even better. And, the W 7 64-bit version needs way over 4 GB of RAM, but I doubt that you have W 7 x64, or room in your older PC for "tons of RAM".
TIP: If you have W 7 Professional, or W 7 Ultimate, Microsoft offers XP Mode as a free download. But, XP's Virtual Machine won't run on W 7 Home Premium.

Yes, it is possible to have both Windows 7 and Windows XP on your computer, on the same hard drive. You will need to make a new partition and install Windows XP on it. When you turn on your computer, you will have to choose one or the other to run from, they cannot both run at the same time.

Donyou mean dual boot? So they run simultaneously? This is not possible i think but is possible to choose between 2 seperate iperating systems at boot up. You just have to install windows XP on another partition of the hard drive. But i am not sure if you can after you installed windows 7 because usually you have to divide into partitions before you install any version of windows.

you could have a dual boot - I would partition off some of the hard drive and put xp on that partition.
but if you have only 1GB of RAM you're basically shooting yourself in the foot. Your computer is cripple with only 1 gig. you need at least 4 to run well.

Not only is it possible, it's very easy to do (I've done it dozens of times with no problems).
See here, you want OPTION TWO...
