Is mascara bad for your skin?

I've heard that mascara might darken the skin under your eyes and and I'm worried because I already have circles under my eyes (not extremely dark ones) and don't want to make worse and also because iv'e heard that the skin under your eyes is the most sensitive part of your skin.

Update:

To people that say mascara doesn't touch your skin i know, but I'm talking about the when the mascara dries and the particles of the mascara fall off .

i don't think so...ive never heard of this before!! wow!! well, my reasoning is that the lashes aren't touching your skin, so i think you should be ok! :) if i were you, i'd just get some extra sleep, and maybe apply some concealer thats lighter than your skin (preferably translucent) and then add a foundation powder that matches your skin..that's an easy quick fix...good luck!

I have not heard anything about it being bad for your skin, but I do know that you should always take it off before going to bed. Prolonged exposure on the eyelashes can make them fall out. And I doubt it would make dark circles worse, because the key is removal. You just need to thoroughly remove all eye makeup before bed.

No, it won't affect your under eye circles. It might come off during the day and make them darker, but that is the actual mascara that you are using. When you take off your makeup at night, the fallout will come off. Although it might make your eyelashes thinner. An easy fix to this is to apply petroleum jelly to your lashes when you go to bed.
