Why does my tampon hurt?

I am 13, & i started my period at 9. Ive used tampons a few times before. But i just recently started using them as my main menstruation product a few days ago. I am a virgin& i use the smallest tampon possible. It hurts when i sit down& especially when i put it in and take it out, can someone please help me out. Will it ever stop hurting? Do i just have to wait for my body to get used to it?

Honey, tampons are made of the softest material. If they are hurting you, it's because you are not using the correctly or not inserting them correctly. Other than reading the instructions which are include in each packet of tampons, why don't you speak to an older, more mature and experienced women. A person who you respect and trust. I'm sure she'll be able to help you.

You may not be pushing it in all the way either, they do sell tinier tampons. Use tampons only if your period is heavy enough. It could also hurt if you're dry up there. If you're dry, you don't need a tampon, ask your mom or a female adult about it.

Try a different brand is my suggestion. I was using a brand that would hurt me like a beeyotch then I switched to tampax pearl and then it didn't hurt anymore. Sometimes brands are just different feelings so ask your mom to buy a different brand because that one is hurting you.

  • try a different brand. obviously that brand doesn't fit you. different brands means different models. good luck.
