why dont people in the art or fashion industry call BS!?
i was at an art museam recently and it was all modern art, terrible paint splatters deformed hunks of plaster all passed as art. one piece was just crap, thats the only way i can describe how bad of a painting it was. on the description it listed an auction price at $450,000. then i read about a fashion show where the average cost per outfit was like $50,000 and the outfits looked retarded.
my question is why do people of authority in the art and fashion industry ever call these people out for being bad artists and bad designers?

Art and design is subjective, that's why.
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't good, or isn't worth anything. It just means you don't like it.
Compare it to other things. For example, anything done in the "anime style". Some people like it and would spend large amounts of money on it.
I, personally, wouldn't trade you the gum off the bottom of my boot for any of it.
Different things exist because not everyone like the same things.
