Battery light came on in my 99 Chevy Cavalier.?

I've replaced the battery and the alternator, both are brand new yet the light is still on, I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the light to turn on. Any ideas about this would be awesome.

Update:

@sschevypwr While that does sound like a good idea, and a good solution, if I drive the car with that battery light on and the car is running off of battery power, if the battery goes dead I can't afford to replace it again now.

    You either have a problem with the connector or the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) because the regulator is controlled by the PCM.

    NOTE: Have a scan test done on the PCM, see if it will communicate and see if there are any stored codes.

    check battery voltage. should be 12v when off, approx 13.5 while running. if no increase after started its charging system related

    let the computer cycle through, it will eventually recheck everything and go off. DAY OR TWO.
