Is my Lorazepam at the right dose?
I have been taking 1mg to 1.5mg of lorazepam as needed for about a year. prescribed by my psychiatrist. I am about 130 and 5'4" and I am 17. Do you think this is the right dose for me its what is proscribed? and I have been reading about the side affects of taking it long term and I was wondering if that is still the case if I only take it as needed witch ends up being about 2-3 times a month. IDK I am just really worried about this but I really don't want to talk to anyone about this do you have any suggestions of what to do?

Sure, do you have reason to believe it isn't?
The only determination of the appropriate dose of any benzodiazepine, including lorazepam is it's effectiveness.
Does the lorazepam do the job for you? IE: If you take it for panic attacks, does it (given a reasonable amount of time) work to calm you down, relax you?
If it is for another issue, does it help with the issue? If so, then the dosage is appropriate. If it does not , then it needs to be adjusted or an alternative medication utilized.
There is no 'set dose' for a person of any age, weight or height -- we all react differently and our body builds tolerance to medications -- even with sporadic use. Though with 2-3 times a month you body will only build a very small tolerance (a good thing.)
The long term effects of benzo use typically result from daily use of them over longer periods of time. The absolute BEST and safest use of them is from very periodic use over large spaces of time. Your case is the perfect case example of this. This 2-3 time per 30/31 days is not enough to cause any of the long term effects, nor tolerance issues.
So, again, if you are getting the relief you were prescribed the medication for -- then you are , absolutely, at the right dose. Make sense?
Don't worry so much about the long term effects -- these are really relegated for the many that take these types of medications each and every day.. not for 2-3 times per month.
Take care,
