Conservative gun advocates: How is it that the government is incompetent?

Question

Now, it's my understanding that you are worried about the government trying to take away your guns. However, it's also my understanding that you think the government is incredibly incompetent at pretty much anything it tries to do. If the government is so incompetent, why are you afraid of them?

Expounding on that, even if they could get all police officers, there is a massive amount of guns in the U.S. Every agency even somewhat related to law enforcement would have to be involved, maybe even with military help. Now, I'm more than passingly familiar with a lot of cops(my father is a cop). He would follow no such order and neither would most of his friends. There isn't the support structure there to do a mass gun confiscation.

Making something against the law will not always stop it.. If guns were ever against the law than only the bad guys would have them..
Having a gun will not help all the time but being defenseless will never help..

Calling 911 and asking the bad guy to wait is not a viable option
Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it!!!

If I stick you in a cell with a 6' 8" 300lb armed man with a 60 IQ and a superiority complex how well do you think that is going to work out for you?  Thats basically what the goverment is.

If the government capable of confiscating all the guns, no they are not.  Is the goverment capable of going in and tryng to take guns from a few ppl, and creating a huge mess of it and end up killing ppl, yep.

Ask the woman and her daughter delivering papers that got shot up in the wrong color, wrong make truck in LA if they think having Officer tackleberry busting their door down if they refuse to hand over their guns is a good idea.

In the first statement, you committ the whole to part fallacy, supposing that all right wingers that believe in the right to bear arms also believe the govt is incompetent.
In part two, you suppose that a great number of gun owners would forcibly resist confiscation of their guns.
The combination of these two things being incorrect assumptions is why conservatives like myself are concerned.

They are trying to ban some semi-automatic rifles, while specifically protecting other semi-automatic rifles with identical functionality.

That seems pretty incompetent to me.
