I'm not familiar with Instagram. What is it? Do you need an iPhone to use it?

It's an odd thing. It's a form of social networking, but is extremely limited, and that's the point oddly. It mostly revolves around posting pictures, adding wannabe photography filters, looking at other people's pictures, and commenting on them. You can follow people like on twitter.

It's also a bit strange in that it has a website, but it's primarily an app for a phone. The website is even more lacking than the app, and you can't even make an account unless you do it through the app.

It is commonly dubbed "Hipstergram" for all of these reasons and more.

Its an app therefore no need to have iphone but you'll need a smart phone. Its basically a facebook but only uploading pics n what not. You may see your friends pic and favorite them.
