Which of the Bottom 5 sides from Last Year do you see improving the most this year?
out of Port, Bulldogs, Melbourne, GCS and GWS which teams do you think we will see the biggest improvement from or will the gap between these sides and the rest of the comp get bigger? What do you see the biggest factor in these teams chances to improve on last year?

My gut says, Port Adelaide and Gold Coast would start to lift from 2013 onwards. I just can't see the Bulldogs rising from 14th place. Loosing Brian Lake in the Defensive area and another Veteran Ryan Hargrave would only hurt them more.
You'd think Port would lift abit, due to some of their players gaining more experience. Brad Ebert, Angus Monfries, Travis Boak, Kane Cornes are all pretty much the players to lift the Power up the ladder. Also, getting back injured Robbie Gray and young John Butcher up forward with Jay Schulz would increase their forward power.
As for Gazza's Suns, new recruits Greg Broughton and Thomas Murphy would increase experience in the Defensive area with Nathan Bock and Jarrad Harbrow. Other than that, I see Gold Coast finishing about, 13th.

100% Gold Coast - The majority of their players will be into year 3 of their careers, and starting to understand how the game is played. They are only 3 years shy of being a top 4 team, mark my words. This team just has so much young talent, that by year 6 all of the players will be at the peak of their career and playing unbelievable footy.
Year 3 of football will show some glimpses of high disposals, competitive and challenging footy, but will lack consistency. But they will pull together enough games to finish higher than last year.
GC will finish higher than those other 4 teams you mentioned, even Port. You have my word.

For me, Port should be the most improved of the teams mentioned. Not only did they draft the most AFL ready draftee (Ollie Wines), but they also have a list that is starting to develope nicely. They recruited well, got rid of the trash and have a new game plan.
Hope Hinkley...brings the fast attacking game and not revert back to the boring plan they had in previous years. None of this kicking backwards, sideways and short kicks.
Not sold on their mental toughness though, these are not first year players (Hartlett, Boak, etc) - they were utter rubbish in the second half of last year, and getting done by GWS just shouldn't have happened

Well i can honestly say that if Zac Smith #1 ruckman, David Swallow #1 draft pick 2010 & Nathan Bock ex all Australian manage to stay on the paddock injury free this season. then Gold Coast will be knocking on the door for a finals spot. these 3 players were missed or played with injuries last season.
This team will be hard to beat at home this season is my guess.
cheers.
Edit} good to see you again Sandiee hope higher education came with a degree in AFL footy. seeing you have been gone a while. cheers.

I'm guilty of simply looking at that list and plainly thinking the Bulldogs will be up there again.
Still cannot believe how dramatically they fell down the ladder last season. Quite disappointing for a team that had been up for there for so many years at the top.
But I do think Gold Coast will work their way quite interestingly and excitingly up the ladder. They frightened me last year the way they played against us. I was shivering in my seat at Subi oval, they were a fingernail lengths away from beating us! Really revealed to be how prominent in talent their players were. They are the underdogs, they are rising from the bottom.

One of the first 2, probably Port. Just from getting a couple of years into the younger players.
