Molar mass of C12H22O11 is 342.29
moles of C12H22O11 in the solution = 38.6 / 342.29 = 0.1128 moles
moles of water = 495 / 18 = 27.5 moles
total number of moles = 27.61 moles
mole fraction of sucrose = 0.1128 / 27.61 = 0.0041

First be sure what proportion moles of sucrose you have. which suits to be 38.6 g / 342 g per mol = 0.112 mol. Secondly, be sure moles of water. which suits to be 495 g / 18 g per mol = 27.5 mol. for the reason that we are looking for for mole fraction of sucrose, this may well be entire sucrose moles divided by potential of entire moles, that's 0.122 mol / (0.122 + 27.5 mol) = 0.004. volume won't be counted subsequently for the reason which you're given the composition and mass of the answer.
