A reaction mixture initially contains 2.9 M......?

Consider the following reaction:

CuS(s) + O2(g) ↔ Cu(s) + SO2(g)

A reaction mixture initially contains 2.9 M O2. Determine the equilibrium concentration of O2 if Kc for the reaction at this temperature is 1.5.

    This reaction contains pure solids which are not considered when writing out equilibrium constant expressions.

    O2...........SO2

    I 2.9...........0

    C -x.......... +x

    E 2.9-x........ x

    Q=0/2.9 = 0 ---->Q<K Reaction will go to the right

    Since the coefficients are all 1, I won't bother putting in the exponents.

    k=B/A

    1.5= x / (2.9-x)

    4.35 - 1.5x = x

    2.5x = 4.35

    x= 1.74

    plug back in ice chart

    2.9 - 1.74

    =1.16

    =1.2 .............Mastering chem?
