Can I call my skin type "medium?"?
I can burn but I'm also capable of getting a good tan. Many have called me fair-skinned but I don't have a pinkish undertone to my skin, whereas others have called me olive-skinned. Frankly I don't think I'm either, but rather "medium Caucasian" if you will. Does that sound right?
@HelloWorld: Well-said. On a world-scale, Mediterranean people (more specifically Southern Europeans and Levantines) are considered very light-skinned. For Caucasians, they're on average medium. Some gravitate more toward the olive or naturally brownish shades, but that's more so in North Africa than elsewhere.

Absolutely. Many mistakenly refer to Mediterraneans as "dark-skinned." In actuality, Mediterraneans are Medium complected. Mediterraneans are not very light-complected like Northern Europeans, but are not dark either.
I have many Mediterranean immigrant friends here in the U.S., and their naturalization certificate lists them as "Medium complected."
When compared to people who are of Nordic and Germanic heritage, Mediterraneans are darker, but not dark.
