What happens to the money police take?

During a drug raid, the police confiscate sometimes thousands of dollars in cash. What do they do with that money, spend it on themselves?

    Probably a nice little bonus to all involved, then it goes into the police funds. Do you think the Man In Charge (Chief, commissioner, I don't know.) will just buy all his staff a Bentley when his department is moderately-funded at the best of times?
