Aren't dogs allergic to cow milk?
My teacher got a poodle puppy today and she was talking about her and this guy blurted out she should give her puppy cow milk and said no because dogs are allergic to milk and cause tummy ackes and they laughed at me and said no. They also laughed at me because i said you shouldn't bathe dogs that much because they will get flaky skin and natural oils will get off there fur and skin. I felt very embarrassed because the whole class laughed at me is what i'm saying incorrect?
Milk and milk-based products can cause diarrhea and other digestive upset as well as set up food allergies (which often manifest as itchiness).
* I said no because dogs are allergic to milk
(i forgot to put the I , sorry for typo's
:C oh wow I feel SO stupid and I want to be vet. They also made fun of me because I said i bathed my dog once a month he is the one in the pic (he has short fur)

They are not allergic to cow milk, but it does do all the things that you said it does. Even bathing your dog once a month can aggravate the skin. It is really recommended that you wash your dog 4 times a year, depending on the breed. You were correct in the things that you said, but I would say that dogs are lactose intolerant not allergic to cow milk, other than that you did a good job. Don't let the others bother you as when they get older and want a dog they will be too incompetent to have one.

Dogs tend to be lactose intolerant - which I suppose could be looked at as "allergic".
ADD: 4Her4Life gave a great explanation as to what would be considered an allergy - I think most people tend to associate an allergy with anything that can cause an adverse reaction, which may not always be technically correct but sometimes it's nice to not get caught up in semantics.
They can tolerate milk to a certain degree, but it shouldn't be given regularly as it can cause throwing up and/or diarrhea.
Personally, I would say you are correct and I wouldn't give milk at all. There's absolutely no benefit to it and I don't like dealing with the potential aftermath.
In regards to bathing: again, YOU are correct. Too much bathing dries out the skin as it rids of the oils and can cause dryness (and flaking). Dogs only really need baths when they are dirty.
I think you'll find, particularly if you are going to become a vet, that animal knowledge -- even common sense -- is few and far between.

It is not an allergy, technically speaking. An allergy is when the immune systems responds inappropriately to a protein that is not actually a pathogen or toxin. But dogs are lactose intolerant, meaning that they cannot properly break down and process, therefore causing fermentation in the gut, abnormally large and soft stools, etc. There is no causation between milk and other allergies which cause itching, etc.
You are correct that dogs are lactose intolerant and that frequent bathing of most coat types can cause problems.

You are technically wrong because dogs are lactose intolerant, not allergic to milk, but I see how you can mix those up. You were right about the bathing too often though, dogs can get dry flaky skin if they are bathed to often.
