Are bigger cruise ships better?

I am about to book a cruise and there are so many ships to choose from. I really like the extra amenities that big ships offer over the smaller older ships but is it worth the extra money? or should i book a smaller ship and do more stuff at ports?

Don't deal with any person who wants you to pay money in an effort to get assistance find a job on a cruise ship! They're superb at taking your money, but not in serving to humans get jobs. Extra, the cruise organizations do not care for them! Even the Carnival web site has a warning about those forms of matters. Go to the cruise manufacturer internet sites and follow the hyperlinks to "employment".

As other responders said, it depends on how you define 'better". I haven't been on one of the huge one,s but know a lot of people who have. My impression is that more gregarious people who like a party and constant action prefer the bigger ships. I like the Celebrity millennium class ships. They are beautifully decorated, the food is very good, and the passengers are pretty laid back. We went over the election, and I expected non-stop arguing but people were pretty cool, although I must admit, you could tell who voted for who the next day.

I alternate my vacations each year, one year, a more complex trip to Key West, the next, a laid back, stress free cruise. I don't want to do much of anything on the ship, but I like getting as much acton in at the ports as I can. I research the heck out of the ports before we go, present my family options, and let them pick what we do.

The choice is yours I say if you have the money and is not on a budget than do the big ships, go with royal Caribbean or Norwegian. Plus spend money at the ports and have a blast, your vacation is the entire trip so you want to be comfortable and enjoy, you only live ones. However me and my hubby are taking our 2nd cruise with carnival due to price deals ( we are on a budget) and carnival dates went better with our wedding anniversary date.(plus we had already booked w/ carnival b4 issue w/ triumph). Also we prefer to spend more at the ports by doing shore excursions. Either way you will have a blast.

Well, "better" is a relative term. I don't want to cruise on the behemoths because they're just too crowded.

Someone in my family went on the Oasis when it first came out. They said that, sure, it has lots of "bells and whistles", but you have to wait in long lines to use any of them. They stayed on the ship in two of the three ports and said it was very enjoyable then.

Steff, it really depends on the company rather than the size of the ship. I like Norwegian cruise ships, because they're clean. Crystal Cruises have small ships, and you get a lot of personalized attention and they're clean. The same goes for Holland America, although they seem to cater to an older crowd. I sailed once on Carnival, and not just because of the recent incident, but I would never use them again. Their ships aren't that clean, they're very impersonal, and it's more of a party atmosphere than a cruise. If you're looking for adventure, try a Windjammer Cruise. Also, if you enjoy just leisure cruising, try a river cruise. They go to a lot of interesting places you won't get on an ocean cruise.

  • YES!!!!!, I have cruised more than 30 times on all sizes of ships and the newer bigger ones are the best. In my book the Oasis and Allure of the Seas are top of the line, followed by Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas, liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas. Then next would be the 5 Voyager Class ships. Even the NCL Epic would be a great ship to cruise on.

The more activities on ships the more you enjoy being on the ship and spend less trying to find activities in ports. The bigger ships also seem to be more stable and don't have the motion that smaller and older ships have.

I went on one of the bigger ships and thought it was just too crowded! I prefer the medium sized ships. The bigger ones have more decks for rooms (which means more people) but not that much more deck space, so everyone has to share that deck space. Yes, they have some more activities, but will you partake in them? If so, then by all means go on the bigger ones. My favorite is RC's Vision class! Not too big but not too small.

Either way you'll end up stranded in the middle of the ocean for days having to finally give a valid reason behind the term "poop deck"

Source(s): every cruise ship practically ever has crashed look at the titanic
