Question on shipping dishes?

I currently live in an area where most of your supplies are either purchased in a larger city or shipped online. I would like to get a new dish set (plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, etc.).

My question is, do you think it'll survive the mail or not? I would like to order, but I'm afraid of stuff breaking. Do you think it'll be fine or should I wait until we can buy them in a store?

Update:

It would shipped from the U.S to Australia via APO, so it has a way to go and wouldn't be covered like most mail.

There is no problem as long as you have the money.

In many cases when you buy a set of China they come to the dealer factory packed in a manner for storrmen to handle and I remember the ones we sold of a particular brand had slotted handle in the top so thy could be carried like a suitcase

All you do is order what you wish online and give them your address etc for their records and the name and address of your Australian friend and tell them to pack and send the goods to Australia

The alternative is to have them packed and packaged and sent to ypu, and then you taking to the Postal Shop and have them forward to Australia

Distance doesn't matter, it will be placed on a cargo aircraft and flown there n a container to Sydney probably and then forwarded to Western Australia.

Places that sell and ship dishware ought to have their act down pat when it comes to packing dishware for shipping. If it can make it intact from one end of the US to the other, it ought to make it further. You can always ask when you order, see if they can guarantee no breakage, or insure the contents.
