Media mail by usps; how many have done it w/o getting caught?

Ive been shipping using first class mail lately, but I know media mail is much cheaper. What if I were to put, lets say a DVD-RW reader as media mail? Would it get undetected? I mean they can not open mail. Has anyone shipped anything with media mail without it being actual "media"?

They can and do open and inspect quite a bit of it. You can send DVDs, CDs, but no readers.

about 75% of media mail gets inspected. We can usually tell if its not media mail just by the weight and shape of the box or package.
