By what process are electrostatic, magnetic or gravitational forces transmitted through empty space?

Is the so-called 'dark matter' involved ?

To be blunt, despite many theories, there are no factual explanations for these 'field' effects yet.

A lot of the theories that do exist either contradict others or fail to explain observable phenomena..

(But 'dark matter' is a completely different thing - that's an attempt to explain 'missing mass' in the universe rather than relating to forces that can be observed in a laboratory).

They interact through fields which they create in empty space.

they say many things.lately they came up with the whole "graviton" thing..

    but basically they are fields.
