It is not possible to switch back to previous/older versions of the Yahoo! Homepage. The format of the data is completely different and can not be displayed in the old format. Yahoo is not going to maintain 2 staffs to maintain 2 home pages.

While we recognize that there are some differences in functionality in the new version of the Yahoo! Homepage, every change was made with the intent to improve the Yahoo! Homepage for all users.

We appreciate and regularly review feedback in our attempt to improve Yahoo! products. Please let us know if you have any comments (positive or negative) so that we can continue to improve Yahoo! for all of our users. http://feedback.help.yahoo.com/feedback.php?.src=h...

(Reuters) - Yahoo Inc is overhauling its website to incorporate features familiar to Facebook users such as a newsfeed and people's "likes," in CEO Marissa Mayer's biggest product revamp since taking the helm of the ailing company last year.

Mayer, who took over in July after a procession of CEOs was shown the door, said in a blog post on Wednesday that Yahoo's redesigned website will let users log in with their Facebook IDs to gain access to content and information shared by friends - from articles and videos to birthdays.

Yahoo is one of the world's most-visited online properties, but revenue has declined in recent years amid competition from Google Inc and Facebook Inc.

The changes to Yahoo's Internet shop window, which include a more streamlined mobile application for smartphones and tablets, will be rolled out over coming days. The makeover follows a new version of Yahoo mail, one of its most popular applications, introduced in December.

Analysts say the move marks a strengthening of Yahoo's ties with Facebook, employing some of the social network's growing data on its billion-plus users to battle Google for Web users' attention. It remains to be seen whether the initial makeover and tweaks expected over time will win back its Internet audience.

"This is definitely an important step. The Yahoo home page is one of the most important things because it is the first interface," said B. Riley Caris analyst Sameet Sinha. "It's familiar in terms of layout, the newsfeed is interesting, and it will be interesting to see how it develops over time.

"The key will be how data is aggregated within Yahoo and Facebook."

Yahoo! first began as Jerry and Dave’s Guide to the World Wide Web, a directory of links created to help organize the Internet during its very early days. That simple directory evolved through the years into the Yahoo! we know today -- a starting point for your daily habits. Whether checking the latest news, sports scores, or just searching, Yahoo! has always been about bringing you the very best of the web. And, today, we’re introducing a new, more modern experience to do just that.

Designed to be more intuitive and personal, the new Yahoo! experience is all about your interests and preferences. Since streams of information have become the paradigm of choice on the web, we’re introducing a newsfeed with infinite scroll, letting you experience a virtually endless feed of news articles. Whether you are a sports fanatic or entertainment buff, you can easily customize your newsfeed to your interests. And, to make Yahoo! even more social, you can log in with your Yahoo! or Facebook ID to get articles from thousands of news sources as well as those shared by your friends.

Because you come to Yahoo! everyday for must-know information, we’ve also introduced newly designed applications. From your local weather forecast to Facebook friends’ birthdays, you’ll always have the information you need. We’ve also refreshed some of what you love most -- including our Yahoo! editorial features, and the daily snapshot into popular trending web searches.

The new Yahoo! experience works well on the go -- we’ve optimized it for smartphones and tablets. And, thanks to some under-the-hood improvements, Yahoo! is also faster.

Over the next few days, our U.S. users will begin to see the new Yahoo! experience and we’re excited to see the response. Over the coming months, we’ll continue to make changes and improvements, so today is just the beginning.

Yahoo as a homepage has always sucked, but this new atrocity is an epic suckjob. My main gripes: 1) No longer does the visited link color indicate at a glance that I've already read an article. It just remains a static color. 2) The weather module continually tells my that my current location is not only the wrong city, it's the wrong state. 3) The scoreboard only allows me to select 10 teams as my favorites. Considering there are 32 teams in the NFL, not to mention my personal college team favorites, or favorites from other professional sports, 10 is ridiculous. This is more like a failed high school coding project than it is a professionally designed and customizable news aggregator. Yahoo said the new interface would be safer, faster, more secure and more customizable. As it is none of these, Yahoo lied.

describing the new yahoo homepage as "it sucks" is being polite. I simply HATE IT. It isn't just a matter of people not liking change, especially when it is forced on them, it is a matter of making a change no one asked for, apparently no one likes, and it now takes an unknown number of pages to find what I used to be able to find easily. I have never like the MSN homepage, but guess what, if Yahoo doesn't get rid of this trashy new homepage, it will drive me back to either AOL or MSN, but won't use Yahoo any longer

This is the worst homepage I have ever seen. Your explanation that you can't maintain 2 staffs is lame! Noone asked to to change the homepage!! Should have kept the staff and left it the way it was!! How dare you change a program without even asking or proposing the change to your users. It's just all about making it Facebook Friendly, and none of us gives a crap about that. You pre-written essay is no explanation and it is insufficient to explain why you did this. Say goodbye to thousands of Yahoo members.

I think instead of Yahoo making their homepage better and user friendly they did just the opposite. The adds (I know it pays for the company to operate) is horrible. It is ANNOYING to say the least. Adds pop up and you can't get rid of them. The top news items do not scroll anymore. No page back anymore. The site has WAY too many annoying adds.

I think they are going to loose plenty of devoted Yahoo fans. Just remember you aren't the only game in town. I will use this site for a little while longer, then I am gone to sites that are more user friendly and not so annoying with too many adds

I made a custom homepage and I like it. Where is it? Yahoo or att.net has no right to override my custom page. I want my custom page back. Unblock your override. I like my page better. It works for me.

They changed the homepage so you will click and scroll and be tracked for more targeted advertising. As a result, they hope to make more money. See this article: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/technology/2013/02/...

You do not get to have your friendly, customized previous page back. Send them feedback here: http://feedback.help.yahoo.com/feedback.php?.src=h...
