Bought a phone online from tmobile?

I want to know does the phone have to be activated when I get it or will it already come with a phone number? Its a galaxy s2

    You phone should come with a SIM card from T-Mobile. Once you put in your SIM card and go through the activation process, it will ask you if you want to port a number from your previous mobile phone or if you want a new number.

    So basically it won't have a number until you activate it, and it will give you the option if you want to use an old number or get a new number.
