The game has a different story from the show. A few characters in the game are on the show though, but that wouldn't really matter to you since you've never actually seen the show. It just adds a little bit of a back story prior to the shows events (for those characters).

Telltale's game is based off the comic book, however it has it's own story that doesn't require reading it to understand.
However, a game based on the TV show is releasing soon. It's an FPS from Activision.
