    1 in 59,0000 chance.

That's around .0017% chance, which means there's a 99.9983% chance it will not hit. How much closer to 100% would make people not worry? Any idea the magnitudes more likely you'll die by slipping in the shower? 1 in 2,232 yet most people don't post questions about being worried to get in their shower.

@GLH - He's referring to 2012 DA14. The JPL Earth Impact Risk page for 2012 DA14 is where the above data comes from.

You have a simple choice. Either:-

    (a) You spend the next 41 years being "alarmed" about something that probably won't happen; or

    (b) You ignore this bullshit knowing full well that even if it was true you couldn't do anything about it anyway

Guess which option all the people with more than one functioning brain cell are going to choose.

I am extremely suspicious of people who quote bullshit as fact. If there is a "renowned scientist" then please name him or her and provide a link to their statement. Otherwise what you've just said is just the illiterate and ungrammatical nonsense it appears to be.

Wrong in so many ways - a meteorite is something that has already impacted the surface, we cannot see small cold objects outside the solar system not associated with another star. Pure fantasy.

Any scientists who actually said that would not be a renowned scientist any longer.

That's an idiotic thing to predict.

<<...will be reaching.....? our solar system>>

    Define ''larger than usual ''.

Our solar system contains some fairly large asteroids, like Ceres, which is about 950km in diameter.

being afraid of meteors is like being afraid of drowning in a glass of water. But have fun.
