Why is my pay so low, even though i worked so much?
I work at Kmart, and this week i worked 37 hours, on my sears account, it shows i made about 277 but i was only paid 136. it shows that out of that 277 about 40 was taken for taxes. Ive heard something about the pay cycle and i never understood it, could someone explain this to me.

37 hours x $7.25 per hour = 268.25
all the deductions for Federal taxes, State taxes, Social Security, etc... are usually @ 30% of your check... this is an estimate
268.25 x 70% (reducing the 30% deductions) = $187.77
You might also be deducted for local or county taxes... possibly also deducted for medical insurance... and possibly deducted for other things like Uniform (does kmart have you wearing special Kmart shirts?)
look at your paystub to see the itemized list of the deductions from your paycheck
as it relates to pay-cycle
most companies pay you a week or two behind... you probably have a weekly pay period or a bi-weekly pay period --- the hours you get paid in that pay period could be from an earlier period of time
for example...... you are bi-weekly & pay cut-off is the Friday you don't get paid (I don't know your actual pay-cycle, so this is only an example)
you work 30 hours Feb 8 - Feb 15 & another 30 hours Feb 15-Feb 22
your pay cut-off was Feb 15 for paycheck dated Feb 22... so you only get the from Feb 8-15 on your paycheck dated Feb 22
then you work 30 hours Feb 22- March 1 & another 30 hours March 1-March 8
your pay-cut off is March 1 --- so you get paid for the hours you work Feb 15-Feb 22 as well as the hours you worked Feb 22 - March 1 when you get paid on March 8
the hours you worked from March 1-March 8 will be paid on your March 22 paycheck

Yes the pay cycle. Some days will be on your next check.
Lets say you pay cycle is
the first unntil the 12th and you worked the 1 until the 20th, they days after the 12 will be on the NEXT check
