Question about house surveys?

We have just had an offer accepted on a house we intend to purchase. Out mortgage broker has confirmed that our mortgage company have approved our application and will send the paperwork to our solicitor and us. However, we now want a home buyers report survey ok the property. How do we go about this? We would prefer not to use the mortgage companies surveyor as we want someone independant. Thanks.

    Almost all estate agents will have a qualified surveyor resident. So get on the blower. Be careful though as the vendor may think you are messing about at a late stage and sell to the next on the list.
