Can PS3 play PS4 games?
I just bought a PS3 a couple of weeks ago (in order to play MLB 13 the show) and then I just figured out a couple days ago that the PS4 will be coming out later this year. And this is my question: Will I be able to play PS4 games on my PS3 for at least the first year that PS4 games come out? Because I really really really don't want to buy a PS4 next year just so I would be able to play MLB 14 the show and so on and so on.

only if released for both systems, e.g. Diablo III is coming out for both PS3 & PS4, as for sports games i think they will still b released them on both the PS3 & PS4 as they have bn releasing sports games on the PS2 up until recently.

That's funny. But seriously no. If you could play PS4 games on a PS3, how the hell would Sony make money from the PS4? But if this gen was anything to judge by, some of the upcoming games will be made for both PS3 and PS4. I was able to play this gen games on my PS2 for a while because there were PS2 and PS3 versions available for them. Expect the next gen version to be superior graphically and content-wise though.

Nope, or there would be no point in the PS4 coming out. Don't worry though, they will keep making PS3 games when the PS4 comes out...especially sports games.

Unfortunately, PlayStation 3 games will not work on the new PlayStation 4 console due to the improved architecture (cell based to x86-64). There are plans in place to provide rendered PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 titles to the new console. However, they PlayStation 3 discs will not play natively.
