Catnip for cats--can it be bad for them?
if they get too much? They seem to like it a lot. My cats are very important to me so I just want them to be healthy. I just don't know much about it.
It's in a hard ball and they just lick it for awhile then act a little goofy then they just sit there kinda stoned like. I have never heard about it ever hurting a cat, like I said I don't know much about it.

It's generally harmless.
I want to mention that with any herb, some cats (like humans) could be allergic to it. This is usually pretty rare, though.
I would give your cat a small amount of catnip and see how it reacts.
I would still limit how much you give the cat. A small handful should be enough per day. :)

My cats get some sometimes. Not all of them are sensitive to catnip. Sensitivity is inherited.
On one or two occasions, I was a bit too generous, and there were a couple of incidents of inappropriate urination. But most of the time, it is over within 5 minutes.
I just wouldn't leave it out all the time. Make it a treat, not a given.

I suppose catnip can be harmful if they get too much of it but most cats know their limit and walk off when they're done with it. One thing you can do is to try to grow some fresh catnip and watch your cats go nuts over it. I used to have a neighbor who grew catnip in their yard and they told me they used to see my cat go over there and chew on it before she started rolling.
