I have a four digit number in mind. You people have 7 guesses to determine it. For each guess....?
..I'll tell you how many digits exist in the guess, and how many are in their correct places. The four digit number doesn't start with 0, and all of its digits are different.
e.g. if my choice was 5678 (and it's not that), and you guess 6398, then I'll say (2, 1) because exactly 2 digits exist and only 1 is in the right place.
:-)
All digits are different MustacheMan!
j and d... (2, 0) for 4895
j and d... (2, 0) for 5923
Now I promise that I'll be quicker.. I'm sorry...
(2, 0) for 9567
(1, 0) for 1659
(2, 0) for 9570
(2, 0) for 9517

Lol, this guy is full of you know what.
His scoring system (2,0) means that two of the numbers are correct, but none are in the right place.
Well, take a look at the first four numbers. 4895, 5923, 9567, 1659.
Two of the numbers are correct but in the wrong place. Looking at the combinations we know that 5 and 9 are repeated while the others are not so that means 5 and 9 are correct but in the wrong place. Yet in the 4 examples the number 9 is in every position and 5 is in every position. Yet his score says that none of them are in the right place! How can they be right then? Lets assume that 5 and 9 aren't the numbers. Then with the first two guesses we can assume the correct numbers are 4,8,2, and 3. However 9567 doesn't have any of those numbers, yet it too has 2 correct! We are back to picking 9 and 5, but they, as I said before, never hit a correct position!

You should re-look at the number "1659" because it has two of the numbers you say are there. Also, out of the digits 0-9 you only said that 3 (that is if zero is the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th digit) are in your number and since they all have to be different this number is impossible to solve.
